Today, most commercial foods are made using the extrusion process – a process that was developed by the Ralston Purina Company in 1950. Over the past few decades, however, pet food has evolved and changed with new options becoming available each and every year. The premium pet food market has grown into a $13 billion market and it continues to grow. But even with improvements to pet food manufacturing processes, the quality of many commercial pet foods is still woefully below average.  This is a premium pet food startup that seeks to change the face of the pet food industry, offering customized meal options for dogs in all life stages.

What Makes Ollie Different?

Quality nutrition is the secret to a long and healthy life for both you and your beloved pet. What many pet owners do not realize, however, is that many of the commercial pet food products on the market only meet the bare minimum requirement for complete and balanced nutrition for dogs. An unsettling number of pet food producers cut corners to save money and your dog ends up suffering the consequences. They are different in every conceivable way – – They offer a completely new product that enables loving pet owners like you the option to customize their dog’s diet. With help from a team of canine nutritionists and a scientific algorithm, they are able to produce personalized pet food formulas catered to your dog’s unique nutritional needs.

If you lead a busy lifestyle but still value a home-cooked meal, you may be familiar with services like Hello Fresh and Blue Apron that deliver fresh ingredients and healthy recipes right to your front door. These services are great, but the meals still require a certain degree of prep time which many people simply do not have. They are actually more closely related to services like Sprig and Maple which deliver fresh, fully-cooked meals to your doorstep. This means that you don’t have to do any of the prep work yourself – the food comes perfectly portioned and carefully packaged to preserve its freshness. All you have to do is scoop it into your dog’s bowl!

Getting started with Ollie is incredibly simple – just complete an online profile for your dog including his breed, age, activity level and alteration status (intact or spayed/neutered). Using this information, they will calculate your dog’s daily calorie needs and create a custom meal plan to meet those needs. Their meals are prepared in a third-party USDA-certified kitchen in Pennsylvania and delivered in two-week intervals to ensure freshness. If at any time your dog’s nutritional needs change, you can always update his online profile. Each and every meal that leaves the kitchen is guaranteed to meet AAFCO base requirements for dogs and their recipes are produced in small batches so you can feel good about feeding them to your dog.

What Does the Hold for Ollie?

They were founded by Gabby Slome, Alex Douzet, and Randy Jimenez – all pet owners who understand the importance of a quality diet for the long-term health and wellness of pets. Currently, they offer limited delivery in all 48 states in the continental U.S. but they hope to expand their availability over the next few years. In fact, Ollie just secured $4.4 million in venture capital from Primary Ventures and Lerer Hippeau Ventures to help them achieve this goal. With this funding, they hope to be delivering healthy, natural, and customized meals to dog owners all over the country before long. There are also plans to add a line of cat food products in the near future.

If you are looking for a way to improve your dog’s diet and to maximize his nutrition, all with minimal effort on your part, you may want to consider this brand. Ollie’s custom meals are made with human-grade ingredients and tailored to your dog’s unique nutritional needs. What more could you ask for?

  1. I have used Ollie for about two to three months – Max loves it, however he turned into a blimp (Fat)
I only feed him half of a small bowl, once a day. Is he better off with another formula.
    Please advize !

  2. Please leave contact number for me to ask a few questions for example what is he won’t eat this food how do I cancel

  3. It is quite unfortunate that you include large pieces of grizzle and hard pieces of chicken parts in the Ollie large container. For my two small dogs ,choking is a great concern of mine.My older Yorkie, chokes after drinking water,do you think giving him grizzle and hard matter would be good for my senior dog?
I was told by “Aaron”that these parts are deliberately left in the product. Maybe large dogs with big teeth and larger mouth and throats could handle this formula.Small toy dogs, not so much!
Regrettably, your food loses points if I had to throw out half the container due to inedible portions.
If you don’t adjust this food for smaller dogs, you may find more people discontinuing delivery and usage.
I am offering a suggestion, but believe me,I will warn others about the contents of your formula as it stands currently.

    Sincerely,
    Nancy Calvin

  4. WARNING! Do NOT do business with this company! They humiliate you as a customer and go to the ends of the earth (including reviewing ur recorded call several times) to NOT refund your money. (I experienced rancid food in my shipment.) There is quality food from many manufacturers that value you as a customer. They have no regard for you once they’ve taken your money! Not to mention $3 per day for small dog-they charged me $57 and refused to stop the shipment!! Harrison and Whitney are horrible people and blamed the fact they are a small start up as to why they they didn’t do the right thing as a company! I’ve never had such a HORRIBLE customer experience from ANY company and I’m a Director of Customer Service! Run from this company and keep your money-they r a rip off!!!!!!!

    1. Agree. We tried ollie’s trial package. 2 days later we end up at vet clinic. We did contacted their customer service with doctor’s note. Unfortunately ollie didn’t even concern about my dog’s health. We are thinking that trial package is not healthy as they promised. I wouldn’t recommend Ollie.
