This recent recall is one of several that has affected the Blue Buffalo brand in recent years. In May 2016, a recall was issued for 30-pound bags of Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula Fish and Sweet Potato dry dog food due to possible mold contamination. In November 2015, the FDA issued a recall for one lot of Cub Size Wild Chews Bones due to potential for salmonella. During that same month, the FDA also issued a recall for 2-ounce pouches of Blue Kitty Yums Tasty Chicken Recipe cat treats due to low levels of propylene glycol. There was also a recall in October 2010 due to high levels of Vitamin D in several dry dog food products and in April 2007 for melamine concerns affecting several dog and cat food products.
